And what do they have to do with my nov\u00adel. Well the wings are the item that inspired my sto\u00adry.   I won a pair of 8th AF sweet\u00adheart wings on Ebay.   I\u2019m a bit of a WWII buff and a col\u00adlec\u00adtor of 8th AF mem\u00ado\u00adra\u00adbil\u00adia.  Of course I was also assigned to the 8th AF at West\u00adover AFB in Mass\u00ada\u00adchu\u00adsetts when I served in the Air Force in the ear\u00adly six\u00adties.  When this pair of wings came up on auc\u00adtion I jumped at the chance to win them and did.  (see below)<\/p>\n

After hold\u00ading them in my hand I tried to imag\u00adine the sto\u00adry behind them.  Since no his\u00adto\u00adry of the wings was avail\u00adable, the sto\u00adry start\u00aded to unfold in my mind.  I enhanced the wings in my mind.  Hence Bat\u00adtered Wings was born.<\/p>\n

There are lots of sweet\u00adheart jew\u00adel\u00adry items out there in auc\u00adtion land.  Some of it we are lucky enough to know the his\u00adto\u00adry, but all too many pieces are found in some\u00adone\u2019s jew\u00adel\u00adry box with no note as to how the piece was acquired.<\/p>\n

I have seen charm bracelets, neck\u00adlaces, etc.  from the Army, Navy, Marines as well as the Army Air Corp.  In fact, mil\u00adi\u00adtary units of oth\u00ader coun\u00adtries also used sweet\u00adheart jew\u00adel\u00adry to boost morale.  It\u2019s great when you can get the his\u00adto\u00adry of the peo\u00adple who owned the item but when you can\u2019t, just remem\u00adber that some\u00adone loved some\u00adone enough to give or wear that pre\u00adcious piece.<\/p>\n
