A lit\u00adtle voice whis\u00adpered in my ear dur\u00ading my dreams. It was Clare of Bat\u00adtered Wings. She want\u00aded her sto\u00adry told. She was one per\u00adsis\u00adtent lady. She woke me up many nights and I lay there in the dark putting her sto\u00adry togeth\u00ader, then spent my days research\u00ading W.A.S.P. and oth\u00ader female pilots from the WWII era.<\/p>\n
O. Hen\u00adry, Tony Hiller\u00adman, Agatha Christie and a ton of oth\u00ader authors have influ\u00adenced me through the years. I think I love Agatha Christie the best.<\/p>\n
What gen\u00adres do you write in? What attract\u00aded you to that type of fiction?<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s the prob\u00adlem with that, I write what\u00adev\u00ader strikes me which is why I have writ\u00adten a war sto\u00adry, Bat\u00adtered Wings, pub\u00adlished; a spy sto\u00adry, Spy Doc, to be released some\u00adtime in Sep\u00adtem\u00adber and just fin\u00adished a ghost sto\u00adry, Num\u00adber Five Dun\u00adning Mead\u00adow Lane. On the back burn\u00ader is a NaNoW\u00adriMo nov\u00adel about life in a man\u00adu\u00adfac\u00adtur\u00ading plant, called Prod\u00aduct Line 551. It\u2019s fin\u00adished but in very rough shape. I write for the fun of it.<\/p>\n
Do you out\u00adline, \u201cwing it,\u201d or some\u00adthing in between?<\/p>\n
I out\u00adline my sto\u00adries and then I fill in. Some\u00adtimes I already have the end\u00ading in mind and then plot out the rest of the sto\u00adry. That\u2019s prob\u00ada\u00adbly a goofy way to do it but it works for me.<\/p>\n
What is your lat\u00adest or next-forth\u00adcom\u00ading book (or both)?<\/p>\n
My next book to be pub\u00adlished by Whiskey Creek is Spy Doc. It\u2019s a dif\u00adfer\u00adent type of spy sto\u00adry. I like to think of it as gen\u00adtle spy sto\u00adry. It comes out in Sep\u00adtem\u00adber of this year.<\/p>\n
What are you work\u00ading on now?<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve just fin\u00adished writ\u00ading Num\u00adber Five Dun\u00adning Mead\u00adow Lane, a ghost sto\u00adry. It\u2019s cen\u00adtered here in North Car\u00adoli\u00adna in a lit\u00adtle town near the moun\u00adtains. We have so many beau\u00adti\u00adful Vic\u00adto\u00adri\u00adan homes here in North Car\u00adoli\u00adna that are being lov\u00ading\u00adly restored and I envi\u00adsioned one of them fight\u00ading back. lol My oth\u00ader project is rework\u00ading the oth\u00ader fin\u00adished nov\u00adel and putting all my short sto\u00adries into an anthol\u00ado\u00adgy. My short sto\u00adries go across the board also.<\/p>\n
What advice would you give to aspir\u00ading writers?<\/p>\n
Lis\u00adten to the inner you and write what pleas\u00ades you. You\u2019ll find your niche soon\u00ader or lat\u00ader. If some\u00adthing inspires you, write about it. If you don\u2019t like what you\u2019ve done, junk it but put it on paper first and give it a seri\u00adous look.<\/p>\n
